Lobbying Important Meetings and Seminars...
i) The Secretary, Fr. Charles Irudayam and Mr. Antony Arulraj, Advocacy Officer participated in the National Consultation Meeting at YMCA on Tuesday, 25th January 2011. Mr. H. Sangliana, the Acting Chairman, National Commission for Minorities was the chief guest for the meeting. This meeting was aimed to discuss the status of Christians in India.
ii) The Secretary and the Social Advocacy Officer participated in the Common Wealth Games, 2010 – Facts Finding Meeting on Monday, 7th February 2011 organised by HLRN. The meeting focused on the flight of the common people who were displaced without proper rehabilitation in view of Common Wealth Games.
iii) The Secretary, Fr. Charles Irudayam took part in the National Consultation of Christian Leaders on the 12th Five Year Plan, Communal Violence Prevention Bill and the Caste – PBL- Religion Survey, organised by the All India Christian Council on Saturday, 11th June 2011 at India International Centre, Delhi.
iv) The Secretary, Fr. Charles Irudayam met Mr. Rahul Gandhi on 5 September 2011 along with Justice Micheal Saldhana from Mangalore and Mr. Joseph Dias from Mumbai to brief the situation of Christian Minorities in different States and the treatment given to them by the Government.
v) The Secretary, Fr. Charles Irudayam, took part in the Consultation meeting on 17 October 2011 arranged by National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to prepare Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of Human Rights situation in India and insisted to include the situation of religious freedom and treatment of government for the minorities in the report.
